/Ä‘GÄ,PĀ/
Agape comes from a Greek word that means love. This love is often crowned as the highest form of Christian love. This form of love seeks the good of others and is unmerited, gracious, and so perfectly demonstrated in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross to atone for the sins of His people.

ABOUT AGAPE TREATMENT CENTER

We believe that lives can truly be transformed and given ultimate purpose in the presence of Holy God. Our program is gospel-centered and evidence-based meaning the foundation of your healing journey will be discovering your identity in Jesus Christ and in His redeeming work on the cross.

Operational pillars.

The Need

Life can be challenging, including for believers, and especially for those battling addiction or mental health challenges. More resources are needed to support individuals and families using scriptural truths and practical tools.

Purpose

The purpose of this center is to explore the effects of substance abuse on a Christian’s heart and life and to provide biblically based addiction services to individuals, families, and communities.

Structure

The program will include confidential, structured outpatient and residential environments, using tools like one-on-one counselling, faith-based step work, accountability groups, and community education.

Logistics

We plan to purchase and operate on a not-for-profit basis in the Haldimand County area. We will offer comprehensive addiction care with medical model governance, best practices, and Reformed spiritual oversight.

Framework

A Board of Directors will set policies and direct operations, working with existing medical resources, and other Christian counselling services to restore relationships with God and others.

Who We Help

The program is for those with life-dominating struggles with alcohol or drugs, aiming to meet them at various stages of change through the gospel of confession, repentance, and pursuit of freedom in Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

Inspired by Galatians 6:2, the program seeks to express love by bearing one another’s burdens, and by asking for God’s blessing and the Holy Spirit’s powerful work in redeeming, restoring, and sanctifying individuals.

PHASE 1 - OUTPATIENT CARE

The Outpatient phase will focus on faith-based addiction care for those grappling with the effects of alcohol and drug addiction while remaining in their community. Additionally, this service will allow those who are struggling and in need of support to utilize our outpatient care as a prevention or aftercare method. Outpatient care will focus on step work, skill-building, and program support, while educating and fostering family and community involvement.

PHASE 2 - INPATIENT CARE

Inpatient care will refer a facility that offers overnight care for 30/60/90 days in an effort to walk with our brother or sister in their addiction. Inpatient care will focus on spiritual counseling, addictions counseling, medical care and rehabilitation.

PHASE 3 - MENTAL HEALTH INTEGRATION

Mental Health Integration will focus on mental health as the last phase of Agape Recovery. Mental Health Integration will require a medical team of doctors in psychiatry and psychology to assist in recovery. This is a longer-term goal with more legal framework but it is committed to those struggling with the affliction of mental health and addiction.

Three phase approach.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

GALATIANS 6:2

What we believe.

We believe in only one God, Creator and Lord of all things, who has revealed himself as three persons in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and serves as the only authoritative source of instruction and guidance for our lives.
We acknowledge that although God created people good, they fell into sin and therefore need salvation from God’s judgement against their sin.
Salvation is a gift of grace which can only be received through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who purchased forgiveness for our sins by his death on the cross.
Since we are forgiven through Christ’s work, we now have a new identity in him as saints who are loved by God.
The Holy Spirit works in all believers, a heart of repentance so that they can live a life of sanctification and thankfulness before God.
All God’s people are also called to live a life of stewardship that glorifies God and blesses others.

You may be wondering...

WHAT IS A FAITH-BASED CENTER?

A faith-based center is meant to guide people who are struggling with addictions toward healing in their relationship with God, others and self. This can only be truly done by the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and by understanding one’s identity in Him. We want to help people reclaim their life and experience freedom with God by guiding them toward humility, honesty, and an acknowledgment that what we worship will control our lives. We will do this with practical strategies, an evidence-based approach and by providing a safe and confidential environment to help establish lasting change in addictive patterns.

WHY START A TREATMENT CENTER?

You probably don’t have to look further than your own church community to see a need for a treatment center. Alarming statistics show that as many as 1 in 4 people in the church struggle with drug or alcohol addiction. Most of these people struggle quietly for many years, without any clear path forward or the necessary tools and support for addressing and treating their addiction.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MIND, BODY, AND SOUL?

When navigating addictive behaviour, taking a holistic approach is vital. We will look at and address these four areas:

  1. Addiction is a worship disorder affecting our soul, spirit and our worship.
  2. The psychological process and thought that have been distorted and disrupted by sin.
  3. The biological connection that our bodies have in relation to our mental and spiritual state and how addiction impacts that.
  4. The ways addiction is driven and influenced by our relationships and social environment.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT THIS INITIATIVE?

We need your prayers so that, relying on God’s blessing, together we can utilize this treatment centeras an effective resource in equipping believers struggling with addiction by pointing them to Jesus Christ. With prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit we hope to serve the church and wider community in an atmosphere of encouragement, accountability, and confidentiality. Financial commitment is needed to support the framework and implementation of addiction care.
